National Science Foundation Convergence Accelerator

April 19th, 2022

Like CSIRO, the US National Science Foundation (NSF) has fuelled discoveries and innovations, which have improved lives. By supporting both curiosity-driven research and solutions-oriented work, the NSF empowers researchers to make giant leaps forward in discovery, redefining the boundaries of science, and making the world a better place for everyone.

CSIRO is working with the NSF Convergence Accelerator with the aim to accelerate use-inspired convergence research in areas of national importance and societal challenges, and to initiate convergence team-building capacity around exploratory, potentially high-risk proposals addressing selected convergent research topics.

CSIRO is sponsoring one Australian team for Track I of NSF’s 2022/2023 solicitation. The objective of the NSF Convergence Accelerator’sĀ Track I: Sustainable Materials for Global ChallengesĀ will be to converge advances in fundamental materials science with materials design and manufacturing methods in an effort to couple their end-use and full life-cycle considerations for environmentally and economically sustainable materials and products.
