Stanford Guests
On Friday, October 10, CSIRO and Stanford University celebrated the launch of the Australia-US Researcher Exchange Network. The first two CSIRO researchers, Wenli Wei and Rebecca Milhuisen have arrived at Stanford’s Precourt Institute for Energy to collaborate on cutting-edge battery technology. The launch was attended by Australian Deputy Consul General Amanda Annamalay Jochum, Professor Will Chueh and Jimmy Chen of Precourt Institute for Energy, Jef Caers Stanford’s Mineral X, CSIRO representatives Dr Adam Best, Jim Henderson, Margaret Donoghue, Megan Crocker and the Australian American Association’s Laura Leventhal.
The Australia–US Researcher Exchange Network aims to deepen research collaboration between Australia and the United States, expand national expertise in battery technology, critical minerals, and grid systems, and accelerate the growth of a resilient, innovation-led Australian clean energy sector.
This milestone marks strong progress in the exchange network, with the next phase focused on securing continued support and promoting the initiative across California, Australia, and as a key component of the Australia–California Memorandum of Understanding energy workstream. The program aims to raise its profile and open pathways for future investment from California, Government agencies, Australian-US partners, and other stakeholders.
We are thrilled to welcome the American Australian Association as a partner supporting the Critical Minerals researcher joining Stanford’s Mineral X in early 2026!
